Title: How can MATLAB® support accelerating Deep Learning research?
Deep Learning is powering a massive shift in the way Computer Vision is automating our lives and improving applications such as diagnosing medical conditions, driving autonomous vehicles, and controlling robots. This talk dives into how MATLAB® supports deep learning workflows including:
- Tools to help with the shift from feature engineering to data/network engineering;
- Challenges with handling and segmenting volumetric data;
- Interoperate between several libraries/frameworks that help build applications;
- Generating multi-target code for NVIDIA®, Intel®, and ARM®
Amith works with Academia in India and has been with the MathWorks for the past 6 years. He has worked on several teams at MathWorks, including Technical Support, Software Development, and now in the Academic Team. Along with a great set of colleagues, he contributed to building MATLAB Apps for image registration and pixel-labeling. He also has some experience with NIfTI images, performance optimization in image processing, and interfacing with OpenCV. His areas of interests include Computer Vision and Software Engineering.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from NITK Surathkal, a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, and he’s currently working towards a master’s degree in Computer Science from Georgia Tech.

Title: Image processing in Automotive Industry
Image Recognition is the key technology in automotive industry and the talk leads to how the image processing applications are helping automotive industry. The talk emphasizes on the need of motivation behind image processing. The presenter also talks about the automation levels achieved in the automotive industry so far and the software components for all the automation level achieved. The talk also touches upon the industry roadmap and tools used till date and what else can be achieved.Bio
Dr. Vivek Kaundal obtained his B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering, M.Tech in Digital communication and Ph.D. in Sensor Networks (Electronics Engineering). He has a total 12 years of wide experience in academics and corporate. He has served as Assistant professor in university level as well as in technical institutes. Currently he is Senior technical leader in the Engineering Academy at KPIT. He has been invited to many International conferences as a keynote speaker. He has an experience of handling govt. funded projects of DST-SERB, ECRA etc. He has been awarded by a young innovator award in the field of embedded control of Robots. He possesses technical certification on Internet of things. He has published 30+ research papers included international journals and international and national conferences. He has filed 14 patents in various fields of embedded systems and Automotive. He has bagged 9 Govt. as well as private funded projects with some research funding of INR 45+ Lakhs. He has written many book chapters in reputed publishers like Taylor Francis, CRC press.
